Science Experiment
Aim
• To investigate if music really does affect the rate of photosynthesis
Hypothesis
• Music will help to increase the rate of the photosynthesis
Approach
• Place 3 beaker each containing a stalk of hydrilla in a test tube under 3 lamps individually. Put an oxygen sensor in each test tube, play songs that are required for each beaker. Run the data-logger graph and observe the graph result.
Apparatus
• 3 test tubes, 3 beakers, 3 stalks of hydrilla, 3 lamp, 3 data logger, 3 oxygen sensors
Materials
• Pop songs, dance songs
Variable (Constant)
• Volume of water, amount of hydrilla, intensity of light
Variable (Changing)
• Types of music
Variable (Measurable)
• Rate of oxygen
Procedure and Observations
1. Place 1 stalk of hydrilla into each 3 test tubes given separately
2. Fill all the test tubes with water to approximately ¾ full; make sure that the hydrillas are completely submerged into ¾ water filled test tubes.
3. Put the test tubes into each 3 beakers separately
4. Label each beakers separately: Pop songs, dance songs and constant
5. Put an oxygen sensor that is connected to a data logger in each test tubes for 15 minutes
6. Inside these 2 beakers that labeled on pop songs and dance songs, play songs that are categorized under each labeled titled songs right beside the test tubes for 15 minutes
7. Place the 3 beakers under 3 lamp each individually; a distance apart from each other
8. Run the data-logger graph and observe data logger graph/table result for every interval of 5 minutes til 15 minutes and record down the results

Experiment errors
• did not stir the water constantly using the oxygen sensor
• did not start the experiment on time and accurate result are not accquired as the duration for experiment is short

Conclusion: Music affects the rate of photosynthesis. Music help to increase the rate of photosynthesis. The different type of music [intensity of music] also affects the rate of photosynthesis. Examples: Classical music slow down the rate of photosynthesis while the pop and dance music increase the rate of photosynthesis. By theory, music also affects the plant growth. Plant growth is link to photosynthesis as plant need to photosynthesize to grow. In conclusion, music can help to increase the rate of photosynthesis
